Open letter from Tim Byles, Chief Executive, Partnerships for Schools
“2008 is proving to be a year of major progress and momentum for Partnerships for Schools and the BSF programme. Having picked up considerable pace, over half of the country’s local authorities are engaged in the programme from Newcastle in the North to Bournemouth and Poole in the South. 20 BSF deals have now been signed with the private sector, representing over £3.5bn of investment in our schools.

13 BSF schools are open nationwide and this number is set to more than double this autumn as thousands more young people, teachers and local people benefit from this unprecedented investment. This pace of activity looks set to continue as we move towards 200 new schools opening every year from 2010/11 on. It is most certainly a busy -and rewarding - time for us all, and I look forward to seeing you at our inaugural BSF awards, designed to celebrate excellence and showcase best practice amongst all of our partners in the BSF community who, together, are helping transform the face of education for generations to come.”
